1 Day notice, 1st Round finish

July 17th, 2011

I get a call from my trainer Tracy Wednesday night asking if I want to weigh in tomorrow and fight on Friday.

Apparently I should take fights on 1 day notice more often!  I was coming off of a hand injury in this fight, and had just started my boxing training back up.  Luckily it didn’t affect my performance much and I was able to get the W.  I should be fighting again in Orange County in August, so I am excited and training hard for that now.

The entire fight card was awesome.  It was a part of the Russian Promotion M-1 Global, The main card was televised live on Showtime.  My bout was just after the last televised fight.  There were a lot of European fighters that had great performances that night, and some vicious knockouts like this spinning back fist.

Grapplers Quest @ UFC Fan Expo 2010

June 2nd, 2010

Hey Everyone!
First of all, I wish that everyone had a good Memorial Day!
Found this posted on the Underground, Think that it is very fitting for that day:

“It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.”

and there is not a better way to honor those Veterans of the past other than to enjoy the freedoms that are given to us nowadays.

Its been a while since checking in, things sure have been exciting and extremely busy on my end. That has to be a good thing to be this busy at my age, and doing what I love makes all this hard work worthwhile.
Just returned home late Friday night from competing in the Grapplers Quest at the UFC Fan Expo in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas Nevada. It was a great experience, and just like any time competing, I learn more about myself; all while meeting new, great people along the journey. I’v heard over and over again that its not always about what you know in life, but about who you know. Every day I meet new great people who are very supportive towards my goals, and that is exactly the type of people that I need to be surrounded by.

Anyways about Vegas.. Click HERE to read the rest.

Battle in the Ballroom: Plenty to cheer about By LOU PONSI THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

April 3rd, 2010

IRVINE — A sellout crowd of more than 1,400 fight fans packed the ballroom in the Irvine Marriott for another Battle in the Ballroom.
Five boxing matches and two MMA bouts highlighted the night.

There were knockouts, bloodletting and, of course, ring girls and we were there to capture the action in and out of the ring.

Thanks to everyone for the support!

March 31st, 2010

Hi everyone, just wanted to take some time to say thanks to everyone that has supported me on my journey to fullfilling my goals. Especially thanks to the people that are coming out tomorrow night to watch me go to work! Hope to put on a good, exciting performance for everyone.

Sooo full right now, we had weigh ins earlier today; so I just been gorging myself ever since! For these fights there is mostly boxing matches (5 Boxing, 2 MMA) so it was interesting to see the different type of crowd boxers were… Man coaches talking crap to the opposing fighters while weighing-in, coaches talking crap to other coaches, was pretty funny! I’m not sure if that’s how weigh-ins usually go for Boxers but I sure got a kick out of it today.

I really would much like to dedicate this fight to the Cage of Fire promoter Juan Noriega who was recently murdered in his home by the drug cartels in Mexico. Juan treated us so well when I fought for him last year. We stayed at the nicest hotel, he even came out to dinner with us to a fancy Italian restaurant and let us order anything we wanted. This was the PROMOTER! Promoters are always so busy and have so much going on, especially right before the fights. Juan went the extra mile to make sure that the fighters were happy.

So come fight time, Juan will be in my thoughts for some extra motivation for me to get this win.

The work is done, had a long hard training camp. Now it’s time for the fun part. Thanks to all my Trainers; Tracy Hess, and my Boxing coach Alex Ochoa. Thanks all of my training partners over at Subfighter MMA in Bellflower, and everyone at West Coast Fight Academy. Thanks Master Carlos Perkins for all the support and believing in me. Love all you guys. Hope to make you all proud.

Good Night!
Tyler
